Slice of Life: Day 93

Gettin so artsy up in here.

Slice of Life: Day 92

I bought cute winter socks at Target!

I'm really sad that my giant calves make them way less cute.

Slice of Life: Day 91

It is cold.

I love hot chocolate.

Slice of Life: Day 90

Playing with my dad's fancy camera.

I aspire to be a photojournalist when I grow up.

(Ha. Yeah right.)

Slice of Life: Day 89

Apparently I didn't on the 26th either.  Fail.

Slice of Life: Day 88

Apparently I didn't take any pictures on Christmas.  Oops.

Merry Christmas!

Slice of Life: Day 87

There's a magazine for everything these days.

Slice of Life: Day 86

I made a headband!  I love ribbon headbands, except that I can never tie things around my head and make them stay.  Solution?  Glue ribbon to an old headband. Ta-da!

Slice of Life: Day 85

I just momentarily got really sad because I couldn't find a picture that I took on the 22nd, and it was really confusing because I think about it every day and I hadn't felt like I missed any days.

But then I remembered that I played with Bec's camera on this day and she emailed me pictures that I took.  Yay Becca!

So this is the 22nd.  Fun with friends at Christmas time!

Slice of Life: Day 84

Dala horse!

I'm half Swedish, and these are all over during Christmas time in our house.

I don't really know why horses are a big part of Christmas decorating though.  I should look that up.

Slice of Life: Day 83

While technically this is Tuesday the 21st, I hadn't gone to sleep yet.

It also looks like I got a rather great picture of the eclipse, but I auto-toned it in photoshop.

Yay full (almost full here) lunar eclipse!  Another thing crossed off my life list!

Slice of Life: Day 82

On the way back from Miami we drive down Alligator Alley.  I know there are many more beautiful places in the world, but I love this scenery.  Not generally what pops up if you google "pretty Florida scenery".

Slice of Life: Day 81

Shh, don't tell anyone, but this is the inside of the Miami Dolphin's practice field!

I don't know why, but I feel like it's a big secret.  It's probably not.

There aren't any Dolphins in this picture though, just jazzercisers.

I went with my mom to perform at halftime this weekend, and it was quite awesome.  I don't care if I'm one of 300+ people, it feels special to walk on the field during an NFL game.

Slice of Life: Day 80

I love plays.

Go see a play this holiday season.

That is all.

Slice of Life: Day 79

I got to return this pile of books to the library!

It made my room look cleaner.

I don't even think I ended up using any of them as sources.

I have a love-hate relationship with the library.  I love it for fun reading.

Slice of Life: Day 78

In the winter time my heated blanket is one of my favorite things.

I'd say that it would be in the top ten things I'd grab if my house was burning down, but chances are it would be the reason my house is burning down.

Slice of Life: Day 77

My much less lazy and more domestic roommate decorated our tree!  I sat and watched.  Decorating the Christmas tree isn't something I yearn to do every year.  Probably because I know I'm going to get bored halfway through and it's going to end up looking like crap.

Slice of Life: Day 76

So you know how in the last post I said it was doable to live without my laptop for a week?

I suppose I should mention that it was only doable because I have an ipod touch, and I bought this baby.

It plugs into the wall/car and charges two USB devices.

I wasn't totally devoid of a computer.

Slice of Life: Day 75

I went home for a night, and brought my laptop.  When I got back to Tampa, I realized why my bag was so light.

This was all that I brought back of my computer.  Oops...

I decided to live without it for a week, and while it was annoying, it was doable.

Slice of Life: Day 74

This is from New Years when it turned 2009.  I saw this and thought "two years ago? this really happened two years ago?".  I feel old and I'm not even old yet.  I can't imagine how much faster time is going to get.

Slice of Life: Day 73

It's been cold in Florida.  By cold I mean below freezing at night for days in a row.  With all this cold, it's been super dry.  (For Florida.  I would never be able to hack it as a northerner.)

These things are keeping me from going insane.  I recommend both of them highly.

On a related note, does anyone know why my right knuckles get red and dry and my left knuckles don't?  It always happens that way.

Slice of Life: Day 72

I think this is kind of turning into a food blog.  I post a lot about food.

In reality, it's not because I know a lot about food, just because my life really is that uneventful where I have nothing else to write about.

Keeping that in mind, this is my second favorite purchase from Whole Foods on Wednesday.

I've made cookies using whole wheat flour before and they turned out rather flat, possibly because of the denser flour (is it really denser? I'm just assuming.).  I got really excited about this flour.

So on day 72 I made some cookie dough with this flour.  It was delicious.  I would tell you if it made a difference in the cookies, except I didn't bake any of it.  I just made cookie dough to keep in the fridge and snack on.

Go ahead and judge me, but haven't you ever made cookies and eaten the dough and thought "it's too bad we have to bake this"?  I'm an adult and I don't have to bake it if I don't want to!! So freeing.  And delicious.  (And to save my from myself, I only made 1/6 of the recipe.  Tiny bowl of cookie dough.  And there's still a lot left.)

Slice of Life: Day 71

We went to Whole Foods today! It's quite a drive, and pricey, but this baby makes it all worth it.  Curry chicken salad.  I feel like I've take a picture of it before, and written about it before.  Maybe I have, but it's just that good.  So good.  Try it.

Slice of Life: Day 70

This has been up for awhile, but I was finally in the passenger seat and able to take a picture.

MOSI, a kids museum with an IMAX theater, dressed up their recyclosaurus in a wizard hat and Harry Potter glasses to promote the IMAX showings.  Best. Advertising. Ever.

Slice of Life: Day 69

It's cold in Florida.  On Monday night I went to stay at home, and as I was getting into bed I was thinking "man I wish I had thought to put another blanket on my bed".

Then I turned down the covers and saw that my mom had already done it for me.

I have the best mom in the world.  She thinks of little things like that.

Slice of Life: Day 68

On Sunday night, I read this entire book.  I haven't read a book in months.  It felt great.

I wouldn't say it was a super fantastic must-read book, but it was cute and easy.  A little weird if you think about it too hard, so just keep in mind that it's a romance novel written by a guy who is known for his thriller novels and a woman who writes fantasy young adult novels.

Slice of Life: Day 67

Kathryn: "We should decorate for Christmas.  Don't we have that tree?"
Me: "Oh right, let's get it out."

We spend 10 seconds taking it out of the box and plugging it in.  Stars still on it from last year.  All done.

I wouldn't say we have no Christmas spirit, we're just really lazy.

Slice of Life: Day 66

Friday I got crafty!

I should clarify that I made these super easy magnets that Becca told me how to make.

They're a perfect craft for me because:
A) They take five minutes to make, so they can hold my attention for that long.
B) It takes no crafty skills.  Literally.  Anyone can do this.

Get circle magnets and get those clear marble stones that people put in vases and whatnot (the ones with a flat side).  Cut out a picture that's the size of the magnet, glue it down, and glue the stone on top with some type of really strong and really clear glue.  Done.

The only issue I had was when I tried to make some using pictures I printed from a computer and the ink ran.  I "laminated" them with clear packaging tape and that solved the problem.

So easy.  It's a great way to feel crafty.

Slice of Life: Day 65

Today (well, on last Thursday) I was a good plant-caretaker.  It got cold outside at night (below freezing) and I brought my corn plant inside! I mean, my mom might have had to remind me, but I'm totally going to keep this one alive.

So what if maybe it's leaves look a little brown at the tips?

Surely it's not because it had already been outside for a few below freezing nights...

Life List: Folding a Fitted Sheet

I saw this video this morning on The Daily What and watched in disbelief because she made it look so easy.  Then I took out a fitted sheet and tried it, and it really is that easy.

I can fold a fitted sheet.

Slice of Life: Day 64

Finally up to date!  Never getting that far behind ever again.

Today I finished a pack of asparagus.  Before it went bad.  All by myself.

That's a big deal for me and vegetables.  I should buy asparagus more often.

Slice of Life: Day 63

I might have not taken this picture on day 63.  I took it on day 64.  But it's going to represent day 63, because I came home from school, made dinner, ate half of it, fell asleep for 3 hours, woke up, microwaved the remainder and finished dinner.  Kind of awesome if you ask me.

Slice of Life: Day 62

We saw a commercial at 10pm for Wendy's new natural fries with sea salt, and so we went to get some.

Wendy's, just letting you know that your commercials work.

This also showed me how much I love living on my own and being an adult.  There's no one to stop me or judge me for going to get fries at 10pm.

If you're curious, they were delicious.

Slice of Life: Day 61

I was originally trying to take a video of my cat playing with her tail, but of course she stopped as soon as I tried.

Then I thought the sun made this kind of a cool picture.

Less cool now that I look at it, and it only reminds me that the Bucs lost to Baltimore.

Slice of Life: Day 60

My mom and I started out driving with the top down in her convertible.

Then we saw this.

Needless to say, we turned in the closest parking lot and put the top up.  (And then it started to pour.)

Slice of Life: Day 59

Possibly my favorite black Friday purchase.

It has flowers and feathers and gems and it's neon.  And it was $1.

At Claire's.  Don't judge.

Slice of Life: Day 58

I know I'm crazy, but every black Friday Target has this on sale for ~$3, and every year I want it.

This year I sat outside Target all night with my crazy family members (for nothing really) and so I bought it.

I'll let you know when I use it.

Slice of Life: Day 57

The sun was setting and it was super red and really pretty.  Too bad my camera can't capture that.

Slice of Life: Day 56

Whoops.  I did take a picture today, but it's of my pretty cousin and her pretty hair.  I'm not sure she wants to be on the internet, so sorry.

But I promise I have a picture!

Slice of Life: Day 55

I loved Annapolis even more than Baltimore.  There were super quaint houses like this!

Too bad I will not live in snow.  I need to find this in Florida.

Slice of Life: Day 54

I tried really hard to make this picture not be slanted, so I think the ground is slanted.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is on Johns Hopkins undergrad campus.  So pretty.  Who wouldn't want to go to school somewhere like this?

I suppose wait a few months and send me a picture when it's covered in snow, then I will respond "nope never".

Slice of Life: Day 53

I really want a nest balcony.

I also really hope that the bird is their fire escape, but sadly I think not.

How awesome would that be though? Functional art.

Either way, they're super fancy in Baltimore.

Slice of Life: Day 52

Heyyy PSU lion!

I'm still not sure what a Nittany Lion is, or how it's different from a normal mountain lion.

Someone care to elaborate?

Slice of Life: Day 51

I know this is a bad picture, but it's a cornfield and I promise it was pretty in person.  Something about the gloom, maybe I'm just not used to it.

Slice of Life: Day 50

In Pittsburgh!  And it's gorgeous.

I know there are a lot of dead things, but then the splashes of color from the not dead things just look so much more vibrant.

I still prefer Florida with the warm and the green and the sun though.

Slice of Life: Day 49

I think I posted a picture of this giant pile of dirt before, but it got way more giant.  I'm on the second floor and it's taller than me way more giant.

I don't know how it isn't falling down, but I really really want to climb up it.

Slice of Life: Day 48

Me: "I need to take a daily picture.  What should I take a picture of?"
Dan: "My foot."
Me: "Why?"
Dan: "I don't know."
Me: "Okay."

Slice of Life: Day 47

Finished packing!  ...Days before I leave.

I was excited.

And I had just done my laundry.

Slice of Life: Day 46

I think one of my favorite reasons that my phone has a camera is so that I can text Liz and be like "cute or crazy?".

I decided this was cute.  I don't care if I live in Florida and I don't need to wear boots, I love them.

PS- These are the cute Kmart boots that won.

Slice of Life: Day 45

I think I should have been doing many many productive things this night, but instead I was making a playlist.

I wish there was an official playlist maker job, I would love that.  I could totally sit there for hours and figure out what songs should go together.

Someone hire me for that?

Slice of Life: Day 44

I had lunch with Josh in Lakeland, and we walked around Florida Southern's campus.  I don't remember what building he was looking for, but we found this pretty awesome fountain by Andrew Lloyd Wright.

We decided they probably don't encourage swimming in it like FSU does Westcott.  Sad for all the students there.

Slice of Life: Day 43

I saw these at Walmart, thought they were cute, and bought them.

Then I found way better boots at Kmart and returned them.

I'm glad Walmart takes things back without receipts, because I totally washed the receipt with my shorts.

I might be addicted to boots.

Slice of Life: Day 42

It's just not autumn until this baby is up in our apartment! It officially became fall for us on 11/9/10.  Only a bit late.
